Paju City

Paju-si is a small and medium-sized urban-rural city with a population of 500,000 located in the northwest of Gyeonggi-do, Korea. It is located 30-40 minutes northwest of the center of Seoul, the capital of Korea. Panmunjeom, where the armistice agreement was signed on July 27, 1953, is located here. Following the ‘Spring of Peace’ period from the inter-Korean summit at Panmunjeom on April 27, 2018 to the inter-Korean military agreement on September 19, the city came into the spotlight as the hub city for peace tourism as military tensions within the DMZ eased.

Seowon Valley Country Club Seowon Hills

Seowon Valley Country Club is situated in the city of Gwangtan-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do and the size of the golf course is about one million pyeong which is larger than the size of Yeouido. Seowon Valley Country Club is operating a total of 45 holes that Seowon Valley(Private, 18-hole), Seowon Hills(Public, 27-hole)

Titled after the ancient name of Paju “Seowon”, which roughly translated to “an auspicious and blessed land“ and is also called ”Seowon-Hyeon“ for the first time in the year of 1174, the fourth year King Myeong-jong of Korea Dynasty, and it is called as “Seowon-Gun in Joseon Dynasty.

The Private golf club “Seowon Valley” which is inside of Seowon Valley Country Club has always been selected as One of the best golf courses in Korea. The balance of traditional dignity and refined sensibility based on beautiful natural landscape are really in harmony.

“Seowon Hills“, 9-hole course(East) opened for public play in 2004 and it is designed by Song-Ho who is one of the best golf course design company in Korea that 18-hole layout(West & South) with a bent-grass course became available for public play in October 2012. Including Seowon Valley 18-hole private course, a total of 45 holes and which are the most prestigious golf courses in northern part of the Gyeonggi Province.

The 18-hole course in Seowon Hills “West and South”, is renovating each course by David Dale of Golfplan as the famous golf course architect during a period of 3 month times, April to June. After renovation, the course is will provide the players and galleries with dynamic and strategic tournament course in this coming October.

In addition, the Daebo Group, which owns the Seowon Valley Country Club, boasts a 90-seat practice facility that is the largest in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province. The private outdoor wedding hall, Seowon Artium, located on the green grass that has been the center of attention due to the wedding of Park Inbee, an LPGA Hall of Famer and the world's only Golden Career Grand Slammer, is also operated by the club. The mid-sized group has expanded its business areas consistently from construction, distribution, communication, and leisure since its establishment in 1981 as Daebo Industrial, and has grown to an annual revenue of approximately 2 trillion won and a workforce of about 4,000. In accordance with the wishes of Chairman Deung-kyu Choi, who practices "Noblesse Oblige," Daebo Group has been annually holding the "Seowon Valley Charity Green Concert," the only golf course festival in Korea, since 2000. As of 2023, the cumulative number of viewers is 500,000 and the cumulative donation amount is as high as 630 million won.
